The Library - Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales

Join us all this week as the Royal Commission celebrates our wonderful library with Blogs and Tweets in the lead up to National Libraries Day on 7 February 2015. Find out which books inspired our staff to enter the world of archaeology and watch out for our #shelfies. For news about events around the country see the National Libraries Day website at http://www.nationallibrariesday.org.uk/.

Come and see our fantastic range of books, journals, guides and pamphlets relating to archaeology, architecture, industrial archaeology and the history and heritage of Wales in our small, but perfectly formed specialist library. You are bound to find something of interest!

I particularly like the section on architecture containing a huge array of books on the various building types, their history and structural and decorative features. One of my favourite books is The Victorian House by Kit Wedd (2002) which contains beautiful photographs depicting some of the rich colour schemes and elaborate designs used by the Victorians. There are fascinating chapters on the rise of industrial estate housing, architectural styles as well as ironwork, fireplaces and chimneys.

Visit the library and see this lovely book and many others.

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday; 09:30-16:00; Wednesday 10:30-16:30.

Penny Icke, Information Services Manager, Royal Commission
